Experience
Every student has a different and unique learning style. I believe anyone can learn any subject; the key is to determine a student's learning style. As a tutor, I will help you achieve academic success by tailoring sessions around your learning style and personal interests. It is so fulfilling when a student has an "ah-ha" moment, and when they show a big improvement on test scores. It is my job to do this, and to ensure you have the skills necessary to be successful in your education. I have more than six years experience as a tutor. I enjoy students of all ages and in many subjects, especially writing, math up to algebra I, and Spanish. I studied Spanish literature at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Even though I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin, and have traveled all over, I am a lifetime cheese head. My family moved to Spain when I was in high school, and I became a fluent Spanish speaker. When my family returned to the United States, I continued to study the Spanish language at the University of Wisconsin as a high school senior. While attending Lewis & Clark College, I studied abroad for six months at La Universidad de Chile in Santiago. In addition to Spanish literature, I also studied art and anthropology. After graduation, I was an ESL (English as a second language) teacher in Thailand. Now I live in Portland, Oregon, and enjoy the occasional sunny day as well as the rain.
